ML Safety Accelerator Program

Join a 7-week machine learning upskilling program based on ARENA from Feb 15 to April 4, 2026!
Weekly 6-hour tutorials on UBC campus with food provided
Math skills and at least intermediate coding experience in Python preferred
Small groups of ~6-8 people
No additional work outside of meetings

Who can apply?
We aim to accept primarily undergraduate and graduate students at UBC, but students from other schools or working professionals are encouraged to apply.
What are the dates?
The course will run from the week of Feb15th to the week of April 4th. We will meet weekly on Sundays from 10 - 4pm, except for midterm break (week of Feb 22nd).
Where does the cohort meet?
In-person at UBC ICCS building. The exact location is to be determined.
How much experience with machine learning do I need?
Relatively strong math skills (e.g. about one year's worth of university-level applied math)
Strong coder (e.g. have a CS degree / work experience in SWE, or have worked on personal projects involving a lot of coding)
Have experience coding in Python
What I don't have enough experience in machine learning or AI Safety?
Check out Intro to AI Alignment, our introductory program that requires less commitment and experience. We also run an open Policy Reading Group whose schedule will be published shortly.
